Emma's America trip to seek housing solutions for the Isle and North Lincolnshire
Emma Garland, Policy Officer at Ongo was recently awarded a 2016 Winston Churchill Travelling Fellowship.
This will see Emma spending four weeks over in America, fully funded by the fellowship, to research intergenerational housing projects (old and young living side by side for mutual benefit) to bring her learning home to share within the housing sector.

Hide AdThe Fellowships provide a unique opportunity for British citizens to travel overseas to explore new solutions to today’s issues. Emma’s application was in the category ‘New Approaches to Social and Affordable Housing’.
She said: “I’m going to spend four weeks in different areas of America, to learn how intergenerational housing projects work and how to make them successful. I really want to bring back lots of learning points and to work with the National Housing Federation to share my learning within the Housing sector.
“We have a rapidly aging population, and need to explore new ways of working to bring the older and younger generations together to live in communities.”
