A time to remember for all at Wickenby
The service pays homage to all those who flew from the airfield with 12 and 626 Squadrons during World War Two and the ground staff serving with them.
It particularly remembers the 1,147 who failed to return.
Held at the Icarus Memorial, which stands at the entrance to Wickenby Airfield, this year’s memorial service was well supported by relatives and many visitors.

The Rev Ian Partridge conducted the service, which included readings by Anne Law, curator of the RAF Wickenby Memorial Collection, and Charles Wheeldon.
The event began with a flypast by the Hawker Hurricane from the Battle of Britain Flight.
A book of remembrance is housed in the Wickenby Museum at the Watch Office, along with an archive and history of the squadrons.
The Museum looks out over two of the original runways, which are still in use, and is open daily from 9am to 5pm, 9am to 4pm in winter.
