Coningsby man receives long service award
Jim Sawyer has devoted endless hours on behalf of SSAFA supporting serving personnel, veterans and their families.
And at the recent annual meeting of the Lincolnshire branch of SSAFA - held at the Petwood Hotel in Woodhall Spa - Mr Sawyer was presented with a special long service certificate.

Hide AdHe was one of six county-based caseworkers who, together, have registered more than a century of service.
The presentation was made by Air Marshall Sir Dusty Miller who is president of the Royal Air Force Association.
Mr Sawyer, 82, a widower, is among the two longest serving caseworkers along with Cheryl Arnold, 71, who lives in Spalding.
Together, they have amassed 45 loyal and notable years’ service.

Hide AdMr Sawyer had a distinguished career in the RAF as a pilot, flying such planes as the Phantom.
During his 25 years as a caseworker, he estimates he has supported in the region of 175 SSAFA cases.
Mr Sawyer says he and other caseworkers are motivated by the need to support men and women who have given service to their country and require help and assistance.
As the UK’s oldest military charity, SSAFA is renowned for providing committed, practical and life-long support.
