Janet's great Weston Hills knit-off for chemo unit
Janet Pell (78) decided to start Christmas early at her home in Broadgate by hosting a charity day to raise money for the hospital’s chemotherapy suite.
But the final total raised from book, cake and bric-a-brac stalls, as well as Janet’s range of knitted cardigans, jumpers and baby clothes, left her speechless. Janet said: “I do a lot of knitting and I had lots of wool to get rid of, so my daughter said I should use it and sell the things I made to raise money for the chemotherapy suite.

“When we counted the money, we had to get a man I’d known for a while to come and recount it.
The event was opened by Weston Hills district councillor Anthony Casson who said: “If Janet says she’ll do something, then she’ll do it and there’s no messing about with her.”
