Medical advice alert for audiology patients
The Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has recently issued a medical device alert dealing with ZeniPower mercury-free hearing aid batteries, manufactured by Zhuhai Zhi Li battery Co Ltd.
They have advised that such batteries with a best before date of 08-2018 and 09-2018 documented on the outer blister packaging should not be used.

Gavin Cogley, head of medical engineering at Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We consider the risk of patients in the local area having these batteries is low.
“This type of battery has not been stocked within our audiology department but there is a small risk that some patients subsequently attending Louth audiology clinics or department may have been issued with this batch of batteries.
“If you are in any doubt, please obtain replacement batteries from your local service.”
