In a statement on Wednesday, the not-for-profit organisation said: “We are very sorry to let you know that the committee has taken the difficult decision to close the Alford Craft Market Shop and Centre from 4pm, Thursday, March 19, until such time as it is safe to re-open.”
It said it was taking the action to protect its volunteers, tutors, students, stallholders. The Easter Craft Market has also been cancelled, it noted.

“We will keep abreast of the ongoing situation and will resume normal service as soon as it is deemed safe to do so.
“We greatly regret this measure, but are convinced it is the right course of action at this present time.
“If any member is aware of another member suffering difficulties please keep us informed through the usual channels.
“Keep safe and keep well.”
