Instead, land between Prospect Street and Tesco car park was identified.
But now a residents’ community group is in charge of the process and is looking into possible alternative locations, including The Wong.
Speaking at this month’s town council meeting, spokesman John Whelan said ‘exploring all avenues’ was part of the group’s remit.

County Councillor Bill Aron has offered to provide the community group with a comprehensive feasibility study about potential uses of The Wong, produced when he chaired trustees of Stanhope Hall.
Coun Aron said the study contained information and reports that could be useful to the group.
Mr Whelan said the group was happy to listen to suggestions.

The Wong now comes under town council control after a recent asset transfer from ELDC. In regard to potential ASB, councillors pointed out the site is across the road from the police station!
