Pet charity bid to help others
Lincs Ark, which rescues and rehomes small animals from its Boston base, has recently been given a large amount of new clothes from the closure of a shop in Woodhall Spa.
Volunteer and animal fosterer Rachel Everitt (pictured) has organised a “pay it forward” initiative for the charity, which asks people to help raise £1,000 for the Ark.

“The clothes are mainly plus-sized men’s – from pyjamas to work wear,” said Rachel. “There were also hundreds of pairs of mixed shoes and slippers for both adults and children. But it would be difficult for us to resell as we don’t have our own charity shop.”
A spokesman for Lincs Ark said: “Anyone who donates is welcome to suggest other animal charities they would like to see the clothes go to as we want to help others who do an amazing job, just like us.”
Along with help to hit its fundraising target, the charity is appealing for animal lovers to consider fostering one of the creatures in its care.

But this year, there has been a huge influx of animals ‘simply left behind to fend for themselves when people move house’.
“We use foster carers to provide shelter, love and care for our animals,” the spokesman said. “Each animal gets personal care and attention and none are put up for adoption until we feel it is ready both emotionally and physically.
“This is where our foster carers are paramount. Many of our animals need to learn to trust humans again after abuse or neglect. We need new foster carers as, without them, we simply cannot take in, or help, any more animals.”
