POLL: Should today be a bank holiday?
Campaigners say the average salaried person loses £113 when they work an extra day in February.

Hide AdThe petition states: “The average salary is £26,500 = £113 per day over 233 working days. In a leap year this rises to 234 working days. Therefore, the average salaried employee is losing out on £113 during a leap year as the additional day’s work is unpaid. The additional day should be substituted with a public holiday.”
The petition – which can be signed HERE – curently has more than 3,600 signatures.
At 10,000 signatures, the Government will respond to the petition.
At 100,000 signatures, the petition petition will be considered for debate in Parliament
