Remembrance Day 2018: End of war marked with feast in Skegness
A special event was held at the Philip Grove Community Centre to give people a taste of what it was like to live in wartime.
On the menu were delicacies such as corned beef hash, spinach soup with dumplings and liver and bacon with rice. For pudding there were egg less sponge pudding, bread and butter pudding and coconut and orange pudding.

Hide AdTony Jackson and Carol Henstock were tucking to corned beef hash and corned beef rissole and both agreed it was ‘delicious’. Even the spinach soup was given the thumbs-up by Dawn Blake who said: “It’s a very nice hearty soup.”
The event on Sunday afternoon was organised by Coun David Cargill and opened by the Mayor of Skegness Coun Sid Dennis. There was 40s music by County Linx Radio and the Philip Grove Choir and Coastal BID Ambassadors were there with the Jolly Fisherman.
The event also featured displays of original memorabilia.
