Worksop: Popular town centre gift shop to close
Barton Dawes Home & Gifts, located on Ryton Street, has announced it will be closing for business in the near future.
Closing down notices have been put up in the front window - but the store owner of six years has told the Guardian that it is due to semi-retirement and not because of the lack of custom.

“I am sorry to be leaving in a way but also looking forward to spending more time with my family. People have been very friendly.”
“I am going to be working two or three days a week in our Thoresby shop in a similar role.”
“My daughter has just left university and she is moving to London so I want to spend some time with her.”

Dawn said: “I think it will remain a shop.”
“I have had some interest.”
“A lot of people have said ‘please do not go.’”
“I have known for some time this is what I wanted to do.”
Its regular customers will be sad to see Dawn leave and the store close - another loss to town centre shoppers.
The shop is set to shut its doors for the last time in two to three weeks time but there is no set date at this stage.
The store sells a range of gifts and ornaments ideal for housewarming presents.
Dawn added: “The Thoresby shop is not far away and it has a beautiful courtyard and free parking so I hope people will pay it a visit and come see me.”
