Hide AdUnited have picked up 22 points from a possible 24 following their festive double defeat to second-place King's Lynn.
"When we got beaten by King's Lynn, first one gutted about it as we didn't deserve to lose, the second one we knew we weren't good enough and a response was needed," Abbott told the Boston United YouTube channel.
"The six points we lost in those games are a pain as we're playing catch up now, but as a team we're doing what we can to push them all the way.
"As a group we're aiming as high as we possibly can. Play-offs was the aim this season, but we've got to aim as high as we can."
